Fully healthy
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 8:26 PM
Johnson says he's fully recovered from his groin injury, EJ Smith of The Inquirer reports.
Analysis: Johnson has completed his recovery from surgery to repair a torn adductor in his groin that he received earlier in the offseason. The 33-year-old should once again serve as the Eagles' starting right tackle and help protect Jalen Hurts once again this season.
David Sills
David Sills Healthy again
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 8:20 PM
Sills was dealing with a back or rib injury but appears to be healthy again, John Schmeelk of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Sills returned to action after getting injured during a practice session in late May. The 27-year-old registered 11 catches for 106 yards in nine games last season, but could find his roster spot in jeopardy as New York's receiving room has become a lot more crowded throughout the offseason.
Practicing again
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 8:09 PM
Flott has seemingly recovered from his hamstring injury, John Schmeelk of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Flott suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the Giants' divisional-round loss to the Eagles but is now practicing once again. The 21-year-old played in 11 games during his rookie season, logging 26 tackles (15 solo) and will now compete for a larger role heading into his sophomore campaign.
Participating in OTAs
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 7:59 PM
Baun participated in the Saints' OTAs last week after dealing with an ankle injury, John Hendrix of Sports Illustrated reports.
Analysis: Baun was placed on injured reserve in December but is now back in action. The 26-year-old recorded 16 tackles (11 solo) in 13 games last season and could be in line to start heading into the upcoming campaign.
Back from injury
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 7:44 PM
Hobbs is back in action after recovering from a hand injury, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hobbs injured his hand during Las Vegas' Week 18 loss to Kansas City but now appears to be healthy once again. The 23-year-old has been lining up at nickelback during OTAs and will likely serve as a starter during the 2023 season.
Healthy once again
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 7:39 PM
Anudike-Uzomah looks to be healthy again after dealing with a thumb and hamstring injuries, Charles Goldman of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Anudike-Uzomah appears to have recovered from the thumb injury he suffered before the draft, as he participated in OTAs last Thursday. Head coach Andy Reid said that the 2023 first-round pick has also been dealing with a hamstring injury, but he seems to have recovered from that as well. Now that he's healthy, Anudike-Uzomah will look to help Kansas City defend their Super Bowl title during the upcoming season.
Back to practicing
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 7:16 PM
Lucas participated in OTAs on Monday and appears to have recovered from his hamstring injury.
Analysis: Lucas injured his hamstring back in December and ended up spending the remainder of the season on injured reserve but now appears to be healthy once again. The 26-year-old will likely be competing for a depth spot throughout the summer after logging three tackles (one solo) in six games last season.
Healthy again
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 6:57 PM
Smith returned to practice last week after recovering from a knee injury, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Analysis: Smith was lining up as the team's starting left tackle at minicamp despite having receiver knee surgery earlier in the offseason. The 32-year-old missed the first 13 games last year before returning to action and will look to once again protect Dak Prescott's blindside during the 2023 campaign.
Anthony Schwartz
Anthony Schwartz Participating in minicamp
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 6:51 PM
Schwartz participated in Cleveland's mandatory minicamp last week after recovering from an undisclosed injury, Scott Petrak of the BrownsZone reports.
Analysis: Schwartz returned to practice during the team's mandatory minicamp after working on the side during OTAs. The 2021 third-round pick has found himself buried on the depth chart, and could find himself competing for a roster post heading into the start of the season.
Recovered from injury
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 6:41 PM
Hayes has begun participating in practice after recovering from a knee injury.
Analysis: Hayes missed the entirety of last year with a knee injury suffered in August but is now back on the field. The 2022 seventh-round pick will likely find himself competing for a spot as a depth guard throughout the rest of the summer.
Let go by New England
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 6:36 PM
The Patriots waived Hayes on Monday.
Analysis: Hayes will head to waivers after logging three tackles (two solo) in two games with the Patriots last season. The 25-year-old will now try to catch on with another team and compete for a roster spot ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Cut by Carolina after five days
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 6:25 PM
Carolina waived Dalton on Monday, Augusta Stone of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Dalton was just claimed off waivers from the division-rival Falcons five days ago. The 25-year-old appeared in seven games for Atlanta last season, getting in on 145 defensive snaps and accruing 13 tackles. Dalton will look for another shot elsewhere this summer.
Expected to push for touches
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 6:14 PM
Bigsby is expected to have "plenty of opportunity" to win the Jaguars' No. 2 running back job behind Travis Etienne, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Harvey believes Bigsby could even out-touch Etienne some weeks, "depending on who has the hot hand." The Jaguars rode Etienne pretty hard after the James Robinson trade last season, as Etienne averaged over 15 carries per game from Week 7 onward and saw 17-plus carries five times over the final 10 games. Jacksonville wants to lighten Etienne's workload, and Bigsby gives the team a capable between-the-tackles runner at 6-foot and 210 pounds. Bigsby should be a popular late-round fantasy pick given his third-round draft pedigree, Etienne's missed 2021 with a foot injury, and the Jaguars' desire to get him involved.
James Robinson
James Robinson Let go by New England
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 3:33 PM
The Patriots waived Robinson on Monday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Robinson signed a two-year contract with New England this offseason, but there was no guaranteed money included in the deal due to the running back's health concerns. If he clears waivers, the Illinois State product will be free to sign with any team that shows interest. The 24-year-old rushed for 1,837 yards and 15 touchdowns over his first two NFL seasons in Jacksonville, but he struggled to stay healthy last year, totaling 425 rushing yards across 11 appearances split between the Jaguars and Jets.
Auden Tate
Auden Tate Gets cut loose
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 3:14 PM
Tate was released by the Cardinals on Monday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.comreports.
Analysis: Tate spent most of 2022 on the Eagles' practice squad before receiving a reserve/future deal with Arizona in January. The 26-year-old is best known for his time with the Bengals where he appeared in 35 contests over four seasons, making 61 catches on 118 targets for 799 yards and two touchdowns. He'll now work to find a new opportunity.
Making an impression
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 2:50 PM
Prince has impressed his coaches and teammates during voluntary practice, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Price went undrafted out of Tulsa, but he's making the most of his opportunity in Kansas City. Not only has he shown an ability to excel as a pass catcher out of the backfield, but he could also potentially earn a role on special teams, specifically as a kick returner. Special teams coach, Dave Toub, believes Prince has an opportunity to handle that role, depending on how he progresses during training camp and the preseason, despite not returning kicks in college. The 23-year-old still may face an uphill battle making the 53-man roster, but he's at least proving he deserves consideration thus far.
Greg Dulcich
Greg Dulcich Making impression on Sean Payton
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 2:13 PM
Dulcich is healthy for offseason practices and has been making a good impression on new coach Sean Payton, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports. "[Dulcich]'s got traits that are exciting," Payton said earlier this month, "and today was one of those days where you begin to have a vision."
Analysis: Hamstring injuries cost Dulcich the first five games of his rookie season as well as the final two. In between, the 2022 third-round pick emerged as Denver's top pass catcher at tight end, averaging 4.9 targets in QB Russell Wilson's nine starts. Dulcich caught only 60 percent of his targets -- a rather low rate for a TE -- but his 33 receptions included six gains of 20-plus yards and three of 30-plus. While a favorite to lead the team's tight ends in targets again, Dulcich isn't known for blocking and may thus cede a lot of the early down snaps to Adam Trautman, Albert Okwuegbunam and/or Chris Manhertz.
Looking healthy this spring
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 1:54 PM
Gilmore has been a regular participant in spring practices, Layten Praytor of DallasCowboys.com reports.
Analysis: The Cowboys traded for Gilmore in March after his rebound season with the Colts last year. If he can do it again in his age-32/33 season ahead, Dallas will have one of the best CB duos in the league between Gilmore and Trevon Diggs. There doesn't seem to have been any lingering issue with the wrist injury that prevented Gilmore from playing Week 18 last year.
Travis Homer
Travis Homer Could have role in offense
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 1:43 PM
Homer figures to be a key special teamer for the Bears and could also earn a role on passing downs, Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: He struggled to stay healthy in Seattle and didn't get many opportunities as a runner, but Homer nonetheless managed to develop a reputation for pass-blocking while also handling a lot of special teams snaps whenever healthy. The 2019 sixth-round pick signed a two-year, $4 million deal with $1.75 million guaranteed this March, making him part of a Chicago backfield that also includes Khalil Herbert, D'Onta Foreman and rookie fourth-rounder Roschon Johnson.
Looking good at OTAs
Mon, Jun 12, 2023, 1:34 PM
White has looked healthy in practices this spring, according to Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo.
Analysis: White unsurprisingly had a down year in 2022 after his late-2021 ACL tear, and the season ended on a low note with a concussion forcing him out of Buffalo's playoff loss to Cincinnati. The 28-year-old is apparently healthy now and remains the No. 1 cornerback for one of the more talented defenses in the NFL.
