Gary Brightwell Participates in minicamp

Brightwell (neck) was a participant in the Giants' voluntary minicamp Wednesday.

Analysis: Brightwell ended last season on IR after suffering a neck injury in Week 15 against the Cowboys. The 2021 sixth-round selection saw little work on offense during his rookie campaign, getting one carry for four yards and one reception on one target for six yards in 13 games. Instead Brightwell was a consistent contributor on special teams, a role he'll likely continue this upcoming season.

Gary Brightwell Placed on injured reserve

Brightwell (neck) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Analysis: Brightwell sustained a neck injury in Week 15 and hadn't returned to practice since then. With just two games remaining in the regular season, he'll be unable to return to the 2021 campaign. The 2021 sixth-rounder appeared in 13 games during his rookie season but played primarily on special teams.
