Cabinda signed a two-year contract extension with the Lions on Thursday.

Cabinda (knee) appeared in 14 games in 2021 and rushed three times for 23 yards while catching four of seven targets for 16 yards and one touchdown.

Analysis: Cabinda was inactive for Week 18 after failing to practice all week due to a knee injury. It was nonetheless a successful season for the converted linebacker in his second full season at fullback, though, especially since Cabinda also handled some responsibilities at tight end thanks to the Lions' turmoil at that position. He'll now head into the offseason as a restricted free agent who will need to recover from a knee injury that wasn't serious enough for Detroit to immediately rule him out for the regular-season finale.
