The Bears signed Peterman to a one-year contract Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Peterman spent the last two seasons in Las Vegas, appearing in two games and totaling 15 offensive snaps. The 2017 fifth-round pick will compete with Trevor Siemian for the backup spot behind Justin Fields.
Nathan Peterman Reverts to practice squad
Peterman reverted to Las Vegas' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Analysis: Peterman was added to the active roster to serve as the backup quarterback to Derek Carr with Marcus Mariota placed on the reserve-COVID-19 list. The veteran did not see any game action against Denver on Sunday. Now back on the Raiders' practice squad, he will likely remain there barring an injury to either Carr or Mariota.
