Logan Thomas Recovery going well
Thomas (knee) is progressing well in his recovery from a left ACL tear and has already resumed jogging, Ivan Lambert of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Thomas said "rehab is going very well" from his Dec. 17 surgery, and noted that his recovery is already "at the jogging stage." While it's positive that the starting tight end is currently "a little" ahead of schedule in his recovery, Thomas also revealed that his surgery was more extensive than previously disclosed. "I did ACL, MCL and both of my meniscus," Thomas said of the procedure. The severity and timing of Thomas' injury makes his status for Week 1 uncertain, so second-year pro John Bates is a candidate to handle increased work during the early stretch of the 2022 campaign.
Logan Thomas Further testing reveals ACL injury
Thomas (knee) has undergone further testing which revealed an ACL tear, John Keim of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Washington initially feared Thomas had suffered an ACL tear, but follow-up testing led the team to be optimistic the structural damage in his knee had not impacted his ACL. However, after he had already been placed on season-ending IR, further testing has now confirmed the severity of Thomas' injury, for which he's expected to undergo surgery shortly. As a result the tight end, who recently signed a three-year, $24 million extension, faces a more arduous recovery timeframe and may not be back to 100 percent by the start of the 2022 season. For the remainder of the 2021 campaign, Ricky Seals-Jones will operate as Washington's top tight end.
