The Broncos' trade for Russell Wilson from the Seahawks became official Wednesday.
Analysis: In one of the landmark transactions of the offseason, Denver finally landed its first big-name quarterback since Peyton Manning retired after winning Super Bowl 50. Wilson will have a bevy of pass catchers at his disposal, moat notably wide receivers Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick, tight end Albert Okwuegbunam and running back Javonte Williams. Wilson is coming off a subpar season by his standards, as he missed the first games (three) of his career due to injury and the playoffs for just the second time in 10 pro campaigns. Still, he completed 65 percent of his passes, averaged 7.8 yards per attempt and had 25 touchdowns versus six interceptions in 14 appearances.
Russell Wilson Trade moves toward completion
In the wake of the agreed upon deal that is slated to send Wilson from Seattle to Denver, the quarterback waived his no-trade clause and passed his physical with the Broncos on Tuesday night, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: As a result, Tuesday's blockbuster trade in which the Broncos are in line to send QB Drew Lock, TE Noah Fant, DL Shelby Harris, two first-round draft picks, two second-round picks and a 2022 fifth-round selection to the Seahawks in exchange for Wilson and a 2022 fourth-rounder, continues to move toward becoming official once the league's new league year begins March 16. The looming arrival of Wilson, who turns 34 in November, provides his new franchise with the signal-caller stability it has been seeking and in the process figures to boost the fantasy prospects of the team's core skill players, a unit that includes WRs Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and KJ Hamler, TE Albert Okwuegbunam and RB Javonte Williams.
