Tyrod Taylor Inks deal with Big Blue
The Giants and Taylor agreed to terms of a two-year contract Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Taylor was a member of the Bills when new Giants GM Joe Schoen joined Buffalo's front office in 2017. At 32 years old, Taylor brings a wealth of experience to New York's quarterback room, having started 53 games for four different organizations. In his most recent stint with the Texans last season, the 2011 sixth-round pick completed 91 of 150 passes for 966 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing 19 times for 151 yards and three more scores in six starts. With the Giants, Taylor will serve as the direct backup to three-year pro Daniel Jones (neck), whose injury history may allow the former to get on the field again in 2022.
Tyrod Taylor Officially demoted to backup job
Coach David Culley named Davis Mills Houston's starting quarterback for the rest of the season, relegating Taylor to backup duties, Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site reports.
Analysis: Taylor was cleared to return after suffering a wrist injury last week against the Colts, but Mills remained in the contest and will retain the starting job going forward. Taylor has played in six games this season and completed 91 of 150 passes for 966 yards with five touchdowns and five interceptions while also rushing 19 times for 151 yards and three more scores.
