Voit opted out of his minor-league contract with the Mets on Thursday, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.
Analysis: Mayer adds that Voit has officially been released from Triple-A Syracuse, where had posted a shiny 1.058 OPS with 14 home runs and 35 RBI through 37 games. The 32-year-old slugger might already have an opportunity lined up elsewhere as heads back into free agency.
Luke Voit Gets minors deal from Mets
Voit signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Voit was cut loose by the Brewers earlier this month after putting up a lowly .549 OPS through 74 plate appearances. He will report to Triple-A Syracuse for the time being but could get a look with the Mets before long as they deal with the loss of Pete Alonso (wrist).
