Ronald Guzman Receives minors deal from Orioles

Guzman signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Thursday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Analysis: A former first baseman, Guzman converted to pitcher last year but wound up missing the season with a forearm injury. He returned to make a couple appearances in the Dominican Winter League, and the Orioles have elected to take a shot on the left-hander.

Guzman (forearm) was released by the Giants, per the MiLB's transaction log.

Analysis: Guzman was sent out on a rehab assignment Aug. 19 to the ACL Giants, and he was released one week later. The first baseman had been working his way back from a left forearm strain.
