Mychal Givens Heads to open market
Givens was released by the Orioles on Saturday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Analysis: Givens was reinstated from the 60-day injured list last weekend after a lengthy shoulder injury but was designated for assignment rather than brought back onto the active roster. The 33-year-old went unclaimed off waivers but will hope to land somewhere for the stretch run, perhaps on a minor-league deal.
Mychal Givens Reinstated, DFA'd
The Orioles reinstated Givens from the 60-day injured list Sunday and designated him for assignment, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: Givens struggled during his brief time with the Orioles this season, surrendering five runs in four innings before landing on the injured list with a shoulder injury in early June. After a lengthy recovery, Givens threw three scoreless innings with Triple-A Norfolk during his rehab assignment and could remain there for the foreseeable future if he goes unclaimed off waivers.
