Pederson signed a one-year, $9.5 million contract that includes a mutual option for 2025 the Diamondbacks on Thursday, John Gambadoro of 98.7 FM Phoenix reports.
Analysis: The compensation isn't yet known in the deal, but Pederson fills Arizona's desire to add some thump in the designated hitter spot. Pederson slashed a pedestrian .235/.348/.416 with 15 home runs over 121 contests with the Giants in 2023, but he had a solid .786 OPS versus right-handers and boasts a career .834 OPS against righties.
Joc Pederson Sits against Kershaw
Pederson will be on the bench against Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers on Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Pederson seldom starts against southpaws, so it's no surprise to see him on the bench Saturday along with the rest of the Giants' lefties. Austin Slater will serve as the designated hitter.
