Englert (hip) was pulled off his rehab assignment Sunday to undergo further medical evaluation, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Englert had allowed nine earned runs on 16 hits and four walks through 11.1 innings of work with Triple-A Toledo. He's been on the major-league injured list since late July due to left hip tightness and now seems doubtful to make it back to the bigs this year.
Mason Englert Set for rehab assignment
Englert (hip) is set to begin a rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Toledo, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Out since July 24 due to left hip tightness, Englert should be an option again for the Tigers' bullpen after one or two appearances on the farm. The 23-year-old right-hander has posted a 5.46 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB across his first 56 major-league innings this season with Detroit.
