David Villar Heads back to Triple-A

The Giants optioned Villar to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Analysis: Villar will head back to Triple-A after being called up July 19, going 0-for-11 with a run scored, a walk and seven strikeouts in limited action following his promotion. Top prospect Marco Luciano was called up from Sacramento and will likely make his major-league debut Wednesday versus the Athletics.

David Villar Recalled from Sacramento

San Francisco recalled Villar from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Analysis: Villar will provide infield depth for the Giants as Brandon Crawford recovers from a bout of left knee inflammation. The 26-year-old holds a brutal .159/.244/.345 batting line in 40 games (127 plate appearances) this season at the MLB level.
