Cooper Hummel Acquired by Giants

The Giants acquired Hummel from the Mets on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Analysis: Hummel was designated for assignment by New York on Friday, but he'll remain on a 40-man roster as he moves across the country join the Giants. Hummel slashed .262/.409/.433 across 455 plate appearances with the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate last season, and he'll likely begin 2024 with Triple-A Sacramento.

Cooper Hummel Designated for assignment

The Mets designated Hummel for assignment Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Analysis: Hummel will lose his spot on New York's 40-man roster in order to make room for Max Kranick, who was claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh on Friday. Hummel has slashed .166/.264/.286 in 227 MLB plate appearances, but his impressive Triple-A history could still net him a waiver claim.
