Cronenworth is not expected to need surgery to repair his fractured right wrist, MLB.com reports.
Analysis: Undergoing surgery would no doubt end his season, although it would still seem to be a long shot that he makes it back given that he'll be in a cast for several weeks. With the Padres' playoff hopes growing slimmer by the day, it makes little sense for Cronenworth to rush back.
Jake Cronenworth Diagnosed with fractured wrist
The Padres placed Cronenworth on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a right wrist fracture.
Analysis: Cronenworth took a 92-mph fastball to the wrist during the ninth inning of Friday's game against Milwaukee. The Padres didn't specify a timeline for the 29-year-old, but there is a chance Cronenworth misses the rest of the season. Matthew Batten was recalled from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.
