Brock Burke Added to World Series roster

The Rangers added Burke to their World Series roster Tuesday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Analysis: With Max Scherzer shut down for the rest of the Fall Classic due to back spasms, Burke will replace Scherzer on Texas' roster and provide additional bullpen depth to close out the series. The 27-year-old southpaw put up a 4.37 ERA and 1.22 WHIP through 59.2 frames during the regular season and will likely be limited to middle relief.

Brock Burke Off ALCS roster

Burke wasn't included on the Rangers' roster for the ALCS against the Astros, which starts Sunday night in Houston, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis: Burke made just one appearance between the ALDS and wild-card series, allowing two runs on a hit and a walk over one-third of an inning against the Orioles. The left-hander was a key reliever for Texas during the first four months of the season with a 2.72 ERA and nine holds, but he's surrendered 18 earned runs in 19 appearances since Aug. 1, including the postseason.
