Christian Encarnacion-Strand Projected to start at 1B

Encarnacion-Strand is projected to be the Reds' starting first baseman, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Analysis: Encarnacion-Strand gives Cincinnati pop from the right side of the plate, but the switch-hitting Jeimer Candelario figures to play his fair share there as well and Jonathan India could even enter the mix at the position on occasion. However it all shakes out, the DH spot will allow all three of those capable hitters to potentially be in the lineup together on any given day.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Knocks 13th homer

Encarnacion-Strand went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Cardinals.

Analysis: Encarnacion-Strand launched a three-run homer as part of the Reds' seven-run fourth inning. It was one of the team's six home runs in the contest. The rookie slugger has gone deep 13 times, including seven times over his last 10 games. Encarnacion-Strand is now slashing .274/.328/.488 with 37 RBI and 20 extra-base hits through 232 plate appearances.
