Julio Jones Officially released
Tennessee released Jones on Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: The news was reported Wednesday and made official Thursday morning. It frees up around $9.5 million in cap space for the Titans, while Jones becomes an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career. The 33-year-old wideout showed a few flashes of his peak form last season, but hamstring injuries defined his year as he missed seven full games and parts of many others. Jones also missed seven games his final year in Atlanta, though he at least averaged 85.7 receiving yards per contest, whereas last year season he sunk to 43.4. A number of teams figure to show interest in Jones in the coming days/weeks, albeit at a much lower price than what he's accustomed to earning. He did close out 2021 with a pair of relatively healthy performances, with a 5-58-1 receiving line Week 18 and a 6-62-0 line in the playoff loss to Cincinnati.
Julio Jones Set to be released
The Titans are slated to release Jones, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The report notes that the veteran wideout will be released with a post-June 1 designation. In his lone season with the Titans, the 33-year-old caught 31 passes (on 48 targets) for 434 yards and a TD in 10 games. Per John Glennon of SI.com, the move frees up $9.5 million in salary-cap space for Tennessee.
